The Schneider Museum of Art presents Nathaniel Meade and Loren Munk, both from Brooklyn, NY and the late Clifford Wilton, who lived and worked in Ashland, OR, to present solo exhibitions with complimentary brochures alongside Highlights of the Permanent Collection. Our Fall exhibitions and programing are generously supported by a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant.

Bio
Munk moved to New York City in 1979 to establish a studio, and continue his studies at the Art Students League on the G.I. Bill. He’s had over a dozen one person shows in New York, Berlin, Munich, Paris and São Paulo. The artist has executed numerous national and international public and private commissions, including a mural for the Mayor’s Office of Paris. He is well represented in important collections throughout Europe, South and North America and the Middle East. His column in the Brooklyn Rail from 2001-2013 was a long running feature and the most consistent in-depth coverage of the Brooklyn art scene available. In 2006 he began the JamesKalm Report and Rough Cut channels on YouTube. This project has eleven hundred posted programs and over ten million views worldwide. His painting work has been reviewed by Roberta Smith in the New York Times, Jerry Saltz in New York Magazine, Raphael Rubinstein in Art in America and Hrag Vartanian at Hyperallergic.

Bio
Meade has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. He mounted recent solo exhibitions at the Froelick Gallery in Portland, Oregon and a recent group show at the Breeder Gallery in Athens Greece. Meade was awarded a residency in the Sharpe Walentas Studio Program 2016-17. His work has been reviewed in publications, such as Juxtapoz Magazine, Maake Magazine, and Hyperallergic. Meade holds an MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, and a BFA from the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR. He attended the Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture 2009.

Clifford Wilton Exhibition – Download Catalog
Bio:
A Londoner by birth, the late Clifford Wilton had been a painter since the sixties. His career an an art director, graphic designer and teacher of design took precedent over painting for many years. His body of work explored landscape, still life, the figure and at the end of his career, the limitless expanse of abstraction. Wilton’s work has been shown at the Aspen Art Museum, numerous exhibitions in Denver, CO, Friesen Gallery (Seattle, WA) Hanson Howard Gallery (Ashland, OR) and other locations around Oregon and is included in numerous private collections.

Highlights of the Permanent Collection
View a selection of work from the Museum’s permanent collection with many of these selections in conversation with the exhibiting artists, Nat Meade, Loren Monk and Clifford Wilton. Patrons may view work by Alexander Calder, Waldo Pierce, David Siqueiros, Jack McLarty, Nelson Sandgren, Dale Chiluly and others.
The exhibitions will be complemented with published essays of the work by writers Allen Frame, Thomas Micchelli and Nicholas Wilton.
