Painter Pegi Smith, Artist Beth Dolos and Photographers Dan Elster and Jospeh Linaschke
We have a fanatstic new collection of paintings by Pegi Smith. For this collection she has stuck to her roots with the medium of acrylic on canvas but she is always looking for new ways to reuse old artworks and often will paint over existing paintings to fullfill her inspiration. Her art is always full of movement and light, reflecting the bright colors and feelings of Spring. Her paintings are often ribbon with metallic gold and silver which adds the surreal illusion of depth and movement. Her use of intense color paired with these stunning nature-inspired images create spirited paintings that brighten the room.
Beth Dolos is traditionally a metal worker but has produced something new and fantastic for her show at Liquid Assets. The medium she is playing with is called Encaustic Painting where imagery is created using layers of melted, pigmented beeswax. Layers and layers of different colored wax are added, fused and removed to bring her paintings to life. The result is a collection of art unlike any other we have seen. With soft lines and colors her paintings have a luminous quality that is both visual and tactile. She frames the pieces herself with recycled/refurbished car hoods, an homage to her roots as a metal worker and artist.
