Claire Duncan :: Dialogs with the Anthropocene, acrylic paintings
In “Dialogs with the Anthropocene” Claire Duncan shines a light on environmental concerns and asks us to consider this; how do we enjoy the beauty in nature while confronting its possible demise? Pairing elegant paintings of wildlife with images depicting wildfire, air pollution, overpopulation, parched ground, ammunition, belching smoke stacks or snarled traffic Duncan presents a paradox in contemporary life.
Join us for a reception for the artist during Ashland’s First Friday Art Walk, October 5th, 5-8 pm. Show runs October 4th – 30th.
Claire Duncan combines a professional designer’s understanding of visual vocabulary with an artist’s passion for the painting process. Painting in acrylic on hand-crafted Baltic birch, her work owes a great debt to her previous design career. Her paintings carry an abstract edge to their representation.
