Featured Artists in June

Join us for a First Friday reception for our Featured Artists Cheryl Kempner and Elizabeth Ellingson

June 4th – Reception from 3:00 to 6:00pm

Cheryl Kempner

I create art that makes me smile.  I hope that visitors will stroll by my whimsical metal trees and smile, too.  I cut rusted steel with a plasma torch. Often the scraps that fall to the floor inspire new ideas for yet another piece.  My husband does the welding and both of us do the powder coating.  I am pleased that as a seventy-year old woman, I can still create and share these fun pieces of artwork.

My clay hand-built pieces also make me smile. I create vases, cups, bowls and trays decorated with whimsical birds. My “Crazy Birds and Friends” pieces have been fired in a kiln for over seven hours up to a temperature over 2000 degrees.

Our additional featured artist is Elizabeth Ellingson. Liz’s designs are all focused around her own custom-cut stones. She takes interesting rough material to create unique cabochons, which are then set in sterling silver. Elizabeth hand fabricates all of her jewelry in sterling silver using traditional silver-smithing techniques. The jewelry she creates is one of a kind with an earthy and enduring quality.
