“From the Tide Pool to the Stars” by Pam Haunschild
The title “From the Tide Pool to the Stars” is a quote from John Steinbeck’s “The Log from the Sea of Cortez: “…all things are one thing and that one thing is all things — plankton, a shimmering phosphorescence on the sea and the spinning planets … It is advisable to look from the tide pool to the stars and then back to the tide pool again.” In this exhibit you will see paintings of tide pools, of the night sky, and the birds and landscapes between. Pam is a contemporary watermedia painter of nature. She attempts to capture the essence of nature without copying it exactly; to get past the obvious — to the essence of why many of us find being in nature soothing to our souls. Her paintings are colorful, highly textured and semi-abstract, but the natural forms can always be identified.
Pam Haunschild – In her artistic practice, Pam goes beyond realism and provides a different, very powerful vision of her natural subjects that deepens the connection between the viewer and the natural world. She works in watermedia — both acrylics and watercolor, often in the same painting in a distinctive style which is colorful, highly textured and semi-abstract.
