The Unaltered Image with Tom Glassman, Photographer
Tom Glassman’s images are composed in camera, with no post processing involved. Other than initial color correction, compositions are achieved without cropping or most of the techniques normally associated with today’s digital darkroom (such as Photoshop). The results are images that depend on meticulous exposure and framing, contrasts, texture, color and value, image placement, negative space, choice of subject matter (and unusual layering or juxtaposition) and the narrative that comes from direct observation.
These are real, old fashioned, authentic, honest-to-goodness, genuine photographs. That means they were not manipulated with any computer imaging software. Everything was done in the camera.
Tom will be featured the month of October at Art & Soul Ashland. Reception for the artist will be Oct 7 during the First Friday Artwalk. 5-7pm.
