About this month’s featured artist: Veronica Thomas was born in South Africa and spent some formative years growing up in a small town situated at the gates of the Kruger National Park in South Africa, but now lives in the United States, in Oregon. She draws on her experiences, influences, and personal understanding from both cultures to create her own expression in art. She enjoys painting a variety of subject matter including figurative, landscapes and still-life. Her desire is to capture glimpses of the Divine, not only in nature, but also in everyday things. Her work is primarily representational and traditional in approach, maybe described as “passionate realism”. Garrett) completed the four-year fine arts program with Semyon Bilmes at Atelier Maui (formerly Ashland Academy of Art) in 2011. Since then, she has continued to study through various avenues, including the Masterpiece Christian Fine Arts Foundation artist conferences, and courses at Schoolism.com.
