The Sculpture Series

The Sculpture Series by Joseph Linaschke As a “photographic storyteller”, the majority of my work is commercial and portraiture, both still and video. Under the commercial banner I’ve had the opportunity to shoot just about everything, from lifestyle to dance to landscape to travel to wildlife to race car drivers and more! My favorite thing to shoot? Something new. I love a challenge. The Sculpture Series is the realization of a 20 year fine art idea finally come to life. It involves photographing live subjects and rendering them to appear as sculptures. Each image is being released as a limited edition of only five. With the exception of artist test prints and a single, smaller model proof, there will be no more prints made of any of these images — ever. All images are printed at 40ʺ in their longest direction (so range from 40ʺ × 26ʺ to 40ʺ × 40ʺ) except for the two very-wide images, Valeria and Florentina, which are printed at 60ʺ wide. Printed on a metallic paper, which is then adhered to a 1/2ʺ slab of acrylic                 Shanna Trumbly […]

Featured Spotlight Photographer Dan Elster

Survival, above all else, motivates our desires and our actions.

Dan Elster Dan Elster was born in Chicago, 1971. Before he decided to pursue his passion for photography he was the manager of his brother’s food distribution business in Chicago. A few years ago, Dan and his wife Patty took a leap of faith. They quit their jobs, sold their home and hit the road.  Patty took a job as a travel nurse while Dan pursued a dream career in wildlife photography.  After years of the nomadic life, they now call Ashland, Oregon home.             Dan loves the natural world and his ability to seamlessly integrate into that world allows him to capture images that would otherwise be impossible to catch. His  striking photographs can be found in fine art festivals, galleries, and private collections all over the west coast and beyond.             Dan is no longer satisfied simply documenting the natural world. He strives to create art; light, composition, behavior and razor sharp focus are almost as important as the animal itself. In the wild, every day is a struggle … just to survive. This is the story he aims to tell. He also hopes is images […]

Caren Shele Caren Shele is a local painter who lives in Ashland with her partner and their new daughter. Having recently re-located from New Orleans her paintings are inspired by the music and culture that she lived in and loved for years. Using the medium of acrylic on canvas her current collection is soft and powerful, her delicate line work paired with vibrant colors and fluid brush strokes gives the impression that her paintings are dancing. Her process with painting is much like the composition of a song, evoking movement and depth through complex layering and multi-faceted subject matter. Caren’s appreciation of the feminine form as well as song and dance has greatly influenced this collection resulting in the ultimate expression of the many aspects of herself as well as her muses. Each painting represents a feeling, a moment, an identity that she has experienced at one point in her life making this collection a beautifully raw reflection of the deeply intimate human experience.                             Randall Grealish Randall Grealish is a painter and metal worker.   Joseph Linaschke  Joseph “PhotoJoseph” Linaschke is a commercial, portrait, and fine art photographer with a studio located on the Southside of Ashland. His clients include Apple, Mercedes-Benz, the artist Seal, the U.S. Army Reserves, and many other businesses of all sizes—including Liquid Assets, where this show is currently hanging! Be sure to check out their website, LiquidAssetsWineBar.com to preview his works.                             This collection, “Fall Colors”, was shot in two locations — Ashland, Oregon and Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. A departure from Joseph’s normal photography, this was an exploration both in color and in advanced digital editing techniques. While no image looks obviously edited or manipulated, the scene as you see it in the print is a reflection of the artist’s eye and memory more than the actual scene as anyone else would have seen it. These 30-inch prints are displayed on metal, adding extra depth and a striking richness to each photo.
