Jhenna Quinn Lewis, Millie Whipplesmith Plank, Dews Oil Paintings, Woodblock Prints, Ceramics August 19 – October 9 Gallery Hours: Thursday – Saturday: 12:00 – 5:00 Sunday: 12:00 – 4:00 Appointments are also available. This month’s exhibition features masterful oil paintings by Jhenna Quinn Lewis, rich woodblock prints by Millie Whipplesmith Plank, and stylized ceramics by Dews. Jhenna’s paintings are simple, intimate compositions that invite the viewer to closely examine the details of a bird in an unexpected setting. Through the manipulation of composition, subject matter, color, light, and shading, she brings out a subtle inherent quietness in her work. Alternatively, Millie’s prints celebrate the biodiversity and preservation of open spaces. Informed by her cattle ranching heritage, vibrant colors, simple shapes, and the nostalgia of traditional woodblock printing can be seen in her work. For Dews, she is inspired by the fusion of gardening with ceramics, whether it be realistic or whimsical. Dews’ stylized animals exude peaceful, playful, expressions, while adding just a touch of mysteriousness.
