A long-time artist in other mediums, she began a daily practice of creating Earth Altars in the early days of the pandemic. What started as a practice for her own healing and resiliency turned into something that could soothe and inspire others. Sometimes she creates with cultivated and wild flowers. Sometimes she picks up fallen leaves, seeds and pods and puts them together in beautiful ways. After the Alameda Fire swept through our area in September 2020, Laura dove into fire relief efforts, establishing the Community Resilience Flow Fund to raise and distribute funds for low-income displaced families and local nonprofit organizations.
