Recycled Assemblage Sculpture by Dale Muir and RAMPART – Recycled Art Materials Project Launch

Dale Muir is inspired by taking apart old appliances, machines and putting them back together with other found objects to create wonderful and fascinating art pieces. During the November First Friday Art Walk she will be creating a sculpture for her Smith River Bridge series. Dale’s studio is in the basement – #4B Since we’ll be featuring an artist who reuses objects that otherwise would probably be thrown away, it’s the perfect time to launch our new Recycled Art Materials Project – called RAMPART. Ashland Art Center is teaming up with Lucretia Weems and the Master Recyclers program to connect artists with interesting materials for their art that would otherwise wind up in the landfill. Look for the big steel drums near the classroom, in them we will be collecting cool and interesting old, small objects like: buttons, keys, springs etc, as well as art supplies that still have life left – like paint, paper, etc. During the Art Walk, pick up a flier to see what old things we can use and then go home and clean out your junk drawers!
