Pam is a contemporary Northwest nature and wildlife artist. She largely
works with saturated watercolors and natural materials like shells,
stones, and plants. Natural images surface within layered, abstract
patterns. Her paintings are colorful and highly textured and speak to the
beauty of nature. She has been artist-in-residence at several National
Parks and continues to be inspired by her time there. Her work is
in many private and corporate collections.

Clay and Metal
Ashland Art Works

I have been creating whimsical clay and metal art for over three decades.
My signature pieces are called “Crazy Birds and Friends.” I hand build
vases, bowls, trays, and 3-D birds as well. To incorporate clay and steel
into garden art pieces I also cut rusted metal with a plasma torch.
Currently I am learning how to powder coat metal outdoor art. Call me
to visit my home studio at 447 Pape Street in Ashland.
I am an abstract landscape painter, focusing on acrylics. I paint from
photographs I take during my travels and adventures, emphasizing color
and water. I use a lot of sponges and palette knives to apply my art to
canvas. I also paint in watercolors. I have been commissioned to provide
a painting for the lobby and each room of the Monterey Bay Lodge in
California. I also have commissions in private offices at Google,
the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and more.
After extensive forays into music and medicine, I fell in love with making
beautiful pictures and since then have devoted myself to drawing and
painting. Working in oil, watercolor, graphite and printmaking media, my
work incorporates still life, illustration, portraiture and figure drawing in
a continuing exploration of color, line, concept, design and imagination.
Gloria is an eclectically trained artist in abstract realism. Gloria’s work
reflects her use of brushstrokes, color and form primarily painting from
life. She evokes emotion depth, drama, design and accuracy in her work.
Gloria came to painting later in life after pursuing previous careers in
law, mediation and facilitation. She exhibits at Ashland Art Center and
belongs to Southern Oregon Plein Air Association, Bright Light Fine
Art and Laguna Beach Plein Air Association.

To me, a successful painting pleases visually, but I hope also elicits a
response of humor, curiosity or empathy from the characters I portray.
In my work, I strive for the line between abstract and “something there.”
